Weigelia - b.h. 2001 by Safely's Mark - Turning North by Obligato

Weigelia by Safely's Mark, a winning son of Two-Time Leading Sire Danzig - his dam is Champion Sprinter Safely Kept, and is three-parts-brother to multiple graded stakes winner and successful regional sire, Partner's Hero.

On the distaff side of Weigelia's pedigree, he comes from an historic Calumet Farm family that also produced the immortal Citation, Filly Triple Crown heroine Davona Dale, and the Preakness Stakes victor Gate Dancer.

"Weigelia is the fastest Danzig line horse at stud in the U.S. today. He ran fractions of :21.2, :43.4, :55.0, and 1:07.0 - the last two times establishing course records, and showed brilliant speed on both dirt and turf." (Quoted by Allen Porter)
